Physical Programming and Our Environment, Girls Who Code - South St. Elementary work to save the environment. THIS IS THE 2019 GWC team of 5,6 and 7th Graders who focus on physical programming (the process of downloading computer programming into the environment to make things work! We took trash and made it useful, purposeful and fun. We recycled 400 lbs of cardboard! We challenged every kid in our school to build a game - AND THEY DID! We are INNOVATORS, we added computer programming code to the games and made them extra fun!
Recognitions & Awards
The amount of cardboard in our landfills is due to our excessive use of cardboard which is almost always discarded as trash. This affects us because the more cardboard that is wasted the more the landfills will begin to fill up, then where will we put this unwanted trash? RECYCLE. Our solution is to reuse cardboard and make it into games , then add our code to enhance the experience for the children! Our hope is that people will ask us about coding and JOIN us so less cardboard is disposed of and we can do our part to save the earth by recycling. Save the Planet! Code! For this we were awarded 3rd place in our district for 'Purpose'.
